2048: The Future Starts Now

Empowering NI’s Next Generation

Northern Ireland is looking to the future, and the voices leading the charge are coming from our young people. NI Connections is thrilled to highlight "2048: The Future Starts Now," a truly inspiring initiative that's set to make waves.

Imagine 12 teenage girls, selected from diverse backgrounds, standing in the historic Stormont Parliament Buildings, delivering powerful five-minute speeches about their vision for Northern Ireland in the next 25 years. This isn’t just a dream; it’s a reality!

The inspiring event took place on Friday, 31st January 2025 and is a collaborative effort between SistersIN, 4Voices, Vocalis Public Speaking, and McCANN VA EVENTS. The initiative aims to empower these young women by providing them with the tools and training to become confident public speakers and future leaders.

Why 2048?

The name is symbolic. It's a reflection on the Good Friday Agreement, as well as looking forward 25 years, to 2048. It's a call to action, encouraging these young women to envision the changes they want to see and how they can contribute to a stronger, more united Northern Ireland.

More Than Just an Event

The girls have undergone rigorous training in public speaking, honing their skills and refining their ideas. The event is more than just speeches; it's a platform to amplify their voices and connect them with community, business, and political leaders. It's about fostering a sense of collective responsibility and inspiring positive change.

"2048: The Future Starts Now," is about investing in the future of Northern Ireland. It's about sending a clear message that the voices of the next generation matter and the commitment to provide them with the skills and support they need to make a lasting impact.

This initiative truly embodies the spirit of NI Connections – building bridges and fostering positive change. We encourage you to follow this incredible journey and support these young leaders as they shape the future of Northern Ireland.
