Invest NI's Team Canada touches down in Vancouver!

The team will be in Vancouver from April 15th - 19th

Invest Northern Ireland's team in Canada will be in Vancouver from April 15 - 19 April to attend the INNOVATEwest Conference, and undertake a series of meetings with FDI prospects, trade partners, client companies, British Columbia Government and Diaspora. 

 

As part of the week the team are hosting a NI Connections business networking event for some of our Northern Irish diaspora contacts, including David Long, CEO of the Greater Vancouver Food Banks. The Invest NI team are also pleased to be welcoming the Mayor of Burnaby BC, Mike Hurley who was born in Northern Ireland and emigrated to Canada in 1983 at the age of 25. Moving to Burnaby in 1988, the same year he joined the Burnaby Fire Department. He was first elected to the council as Mayor in 2018. Mike was Vice-President of the Burnaby Fire Fighters Association, then President, and also the BC Provincial Fire Fighters Associations' President. He received the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002, the Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 and the Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2022.  

 

The team are also excited to meet with Invest NI client companies, Scileads, EventMap and Neueda in Vancouver and also with many other connections with Northern Ireland including a number of Ulster University and Queen's University Belfast alumni. Two Stacks Whiskey from Newry will also be doing a tasting at the event!
