Interview with Co Tyrone native Sarah Friar, CEO of Nextdoor
Sarah Friar is from Sion Mills, Co Tyrone. She’s is the CEO of Nextdoor, a free private social network whose goal is to get you connected to your neighbours.
Prior to serving as Nextdoor’s CEO, Sarah was CFO of Square a tech company who under Sarah’s leadership, launched its initial public offering in 2015 and added $30Bn in market capital. Before her time at Square, Sarah worked with Salesforce, Goldman Sachs and McKinsey and even spent some time working on a gold mine in Ghana.
Alongside her work at Nextdoor, Sarah sits on the boards of Walmart and Slack, and is the co-founder of Ladies Who Launch, a nonprofit that celebrates and empowers female entrepreneurs.
Sarah Friar is a real champion of Northern Ireland. She’s a big supporter of the local tech community in Ormeau Baths and a great example of how the diaspora is giving back to Northern Ireland.
